Over the years, Stephanie found herself becoming the go-to pet sitter for friends and family, and what began as a side favor slowly grew into something more meaningful, resulting in the realization that her genuine love for animals could offer so much peace of mind to their humans, too.

With a background in public relations from the University of Oregon and a career in communications at a local nonprofit, Stephanie has always been passionate about building trust and connection. Familiar Companions is the blend of all those things: her professional experience, lifelong love for animals, and belief that all pets deserve the same care and attention she gives her own.

Alex is an essential part of Familiar Companions and brings a calming, grounded presence to every pet he meets. He grew up surrounded by cats and dogs and has always had a natural connection with animals.

As co-founder, Alex took the leap into making Familiar Companions his full-time work after building a wide-ranging professional background in advertising, IT, and project engineering. His diverse experience has shaped him into someone who is adaptable, observant, and incredibly resourceful, qualities that translate seamlessly into thoughtful, reliable pet care.

What sets Alex apart is his patience and his ability to earn the trust of nervous or hesitant pets. He takes a gentle, respectful approach, giving each animal the time and space they need to feel safe. With his calm energy and attention to each pet’s unique personality and boundaries, Alex ensures every companion feels understood and cared for.
