My love for animals started long before I ever thought to turn it into a business. I grew up surrounded by pets of all kinds (dogs, cats, even snakes and rats) and learned early on how deep the bond between people and their animals can be.

Over the years, I found myself becoming the go-to pet sitter for friends and family, and what began as a side favor slowly grew into something more meaningful. I realized how much I genuinely love caring for animals and how much peace of mind I could offer to their humans, too.

With a background in public relations from the University of Oregon and a career in communications at a local nonprofit, I’ve always been passionate about building trust and connection. Familiar Companions is the blend of all those things: my professional experience, my lifelong love for animals, and my belief that all pets deserve the same care and attention we give our own.

At the heart of this business is one simple goal: to offer reliable, thoughtful care so you can feel confident knowing your pet is in good hands. 

Alex is an essential part of Familiar Companions and brings a calming presence to every pet he meets. He grew up with cats and dogs and has always had a natural connection with animals.

Professionally, Alex has worked in advertising, IT, and now project engineering at a bi-national HVAC company. His wide-ranging background makes him adaptable and resourceful, qualities that come in handy in all kinds of pet care situations.

What really sets Alex apart is his ability to build trust with shy or nervous animals. With endless patience and a calm energy, he gives pets the time and space they need to feel comfortable. He’s thoughtful in his approach, always paying close attention to each pet’s unique personality and boundaries.
